Why does Dinnie love to fish so much?
Answer:
She doesn't like to actually catch the fish, she just likes the feeling of waiting. She doesn't even put the bait on her hook.
This question really shows how it doesn't matter of the outcome that a action brings, it is about the feeling that you feel while doing that action. It makes her feel peaceful and she doesn't even care if she catches a fish or not.

Why does she no want Lila to go back to America?
Answer:
She doesn't like Lila. Lila is mean to Dinnie but Dinnie just likes Lila being there. Dinnie has no particular reason for liking her.
Sometimes people don't like other people, but they can't live without them. There is a role that everyone plays and Lila has one in Dinnie's heart, even if Dinnie doesn't know that.

Answer: The pistol is her nickname because just like a loaded gun, you never know when she will go off. She might get mad or start yelling out of nowhere.
